The Sr-isotope ratios of several samples from a natural and an agricultural soil from Ravenna were determined using aqua regia and the two-step sequential extraction. Results indicate that the two-step extraction can provide the researcher with wider and more precise information on Sr sources, thus being a more suitable methodology for achieving scientific goals than the aqua regia extraction. Lastly, the extracts of hydrochloric acid and aqua regia display similar ranges of δ87Sr, indicating that the two procedures provide comparable information on Sr sources.
